George was born on October 7, 1950, in Johnson City, Tennessee. His family later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Kent State in Ohio in 1972 and where he met his wife, Bonnie Eidam. The pair were united in marriage on September 27, 1975 in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The couple moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1978.
George worked for many years as a manager at Ethan Allen before transitioning to a career in real estate with Coldwell Banker. He was passionate about serving others, both professionally and through volunteer work. George generously gave his time to various boards and organizations where he showed his care for those in his community. George found his joy in connecting with those around him and hearing their stories. A party wasn’t a party without George in the room.
If you knew George, then you knew his lighthearted nature, genuine care, and ability to see the good in others. George also enjoyed simple pleasures—shopping for treasures at Goodwill, listening to music, going out with his family, and spending Sunday mornings with his daughter at church.
George will be deeply missed by Bonnie, his children, Meredith Roeder and George Stockum III, grandson Orion Roeder, brother, Charles Stockum, sister, Barbara Campbell, and his nieces and nephews, who are all grateful to have felt his love.
A service to celebrate George’s life will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 W 20th St., Greeley on Saturday, September 20, at 10:30. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (TheAFTD.org) in George’s memory.
