Working in Durango, CO at Fort Lewis College, she met her future husband, Mike Geile, at the Strater Hotel. After their marriage they lived in Alamosa where Mike was employed with Home, Light & Power. They later moved to Greeley, CO.
Helen was an active partner with her husband in his business and political endeavors. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant to George Conger, then President of Aims Community College. She also was an active volunteer at Meeker Elementary School for many years, a volunteer at Banner Hospital in the gift shop and in the Alter Guild at Trinity Episcopal. She served as President of her PEO Chapter EZ and for nine years was the Program Financial Coordinator for Weld Women2Women. She was an avid golfer, bridge player, voracious reader and did lovely cross stitch and needle point. Her friends and family especially loved her homemade jams, pickles and salsa.
Helen was pre-deceased by her parents, Woodrow and LaVaughn Knott, two sisters (Katherine Bell and Donna Legg) and her beloved husband, Mike. Surviving family members include her daughter, Jamie Lindahl (Kris) of Steamboat Springs, two grandchildren, Tessa Lindahl of Alamosa and Fisher Lindahl, Fort Collins as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial remembrance will be held later in the spring at Trinity Episcopal Church, Greeley. Those who wish to remember Helen in a special way may make gifts to the Success Foundation, a non profit serving Greeley-Evans schools (1025 9th Ave. Greeley, CO 80631).
