

Herbert “Herb” Bruce Bernhoft, 91, of Greeley, died March 18, 2017 at his home. He was born November 8, 1925 in Burlington, Wisconsin to Walter and Gertrude Bernhoft. Herb grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin. He entered the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Radioman, during WW II, from April 7 1943 to April 22, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Wisconsin.
Herb married Olga Ghezzi on June 16, 1951 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She died March 16, 1988. He married Paz Moore in November 1988 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greeley. Herb was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gill Lion’s Club for 30 years serving as President and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He worked for the American Motors in Kenosha for several years. He moved to Greeley in 1976. He worked for Emery Aviation, Greeley and was a licensed pilot. Herb had a passion for airplanes and flying and he enjoyed instruction new pilots. He proudly served his community with his Lion’s Club with cleaning projects and providing eyeglasses through Lion’s International.
Herb is survived by his wife Paz of Greeley; children Sandra Churas (Mike) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, David Bernhoft (Shary) of Osseo, Minnesota and Mark Bernhoft (Caron) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
