Issy was born November 19, 1931 in Windsor CO. He married the love of his life Gloria Duran on September 24, 1950. They shared the next sixty-nine years building a beautiful life together. Issy and Gloria were blessed with five children, Rose, Timothy, Ruby, Rick, and Rhonda.
Every skill Issy knew was self-taught. He took great pride knowing he could do “anything” no matter what it entailed. During his tenure at Hensel Phelps, Issy rose to superintendent during the construction of Eastman Kodak Windsor plant. Issy left Hensel Phelps to form with his brothers-in-law Northern Colorado Constructor (NCC), a family operated business. Upon retiring from NCC, Issy continued to use his construction skills to assist residents and businesses in the Greeley area. At the age of 87, he managed the rebuilding of the Country Inn, a well-known Greeley restaurant.
During his lifetime, Issy touched many lives. He was a man who loved God. From his deep relationship with God, he entered into the ministry. During his more than 40 years in the ministry, he built and started several churches. His service to the Lord took him all over Colorado, to Wyoming and New Mexico.
Issy loved sports. He especially loved the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He was not the spectator type. Often, Issy could be found outside playing basketball or football with his grandchildren and even his great-grandchildren. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and weekend trips up the Poudre River with his brothers-in-law and the occasional family trip to the Miracle Mile.
Issy was deeply loved by all that knew him, always offering a helping hand and advice. Issy was a mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Issy is survived by his wife Gloria, daughters Rose Bustamante (Raul), Ruby Silva, Rhonda Silva, son Rick Silva (Yolanda), sister: Nellie Puente (Joe), brother: Dave Silva, seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Irene Barela (Gilbert), Maryjane Duran-Blietz,, brothers-in-laws Rudy Duran (JoAnn), Ernie Duran (Cecelia) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
