Retired Commercial Construction Superintendent, Jack Kassahn, 86, passed away on Tuesday March 9th in Greeley, CO.
Jack was born in Crawford, NE along with a twin sister to Theodore & Isabelle (Cowell) Kassahn, youngest of 5 children. Jack collected pop bottles in his little red wagon to help support the family while living in Crawford until he was 10 years old. They then moved to Austin, CO and graduated from high school in Delta, CO. He milked cows, worked construction & carpentry all throughout high school.
Jack married Caryle (Kissinger) in 1954. They raised 4 children, Bryan Michael, Renata Marie (Reiter), Mark Kevin, Lisa Marlene. He proudly served in the Colorado National Guard.
Jack started as a carpenter in the Delta & Grand Junction area, Jack & Caryle then moved to Uravan to work in the uranium mill and carpentry shop for Union Carbide. He continued to work throughout Western Colorado. In 1974 the family moved to Montana to start a construction company and later owned a log house mill in Darby, MT. The family moved 33 times following construction opportunities which led them back to Colorado where he then retired from Adolfson & Peterson Construction as a Superintendent in 1999.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Carl & Ted, son Sgt. Bryan Michael Kassahn, infant Glenn Martin Kassahn.
Jack is survived by wife of 66 years, Caryle (Kissinger), sister Doris (Martin), twin sister June Kassahn, children Renata (Randy) Reiter, Mark Kassahn, Lisa Kassahn; grandchildren, Bettina Machamer, Jason (Laura) Reiter, Christopher (Destinee) Reiter; great -grandchildren, Adrianne Machamer, Virginia & Elmer & Michael Reiter, Gabrielle Reiter; great-great-grandchildren Renata & Logan.
