It's hard for me to form the words to properly say goodbye to James. He was such an amazing friend to everyone he ever met. I remember the first time I ever met James about a decade ago. We were at a clinic in Colorado when my daughter was small. James was always the one cheering on everyone else. Didn't matter if you were a little kid or an adult. Didn't matter if you were his competitor, you were also his friend. That is something I will always remember about James. James never met someone that wasn't his friend. He was kind to everyone. He had the biggest heart. Whether he was competing or sitting in the stands cheering on everyone, he was always the positive light. I will miss that the most. It feels like there is a deep empty void in our hearts now that he is not here. I can't even imagine going to an event where I would expect to see him and not seeing his smiling face. To the entire springer family, you are our extended family. You have always been our skating family and we revere you all was very close friends. My heart breaks for each of you as you work your way through dealing with this loss. The pain will never go away, it will just dull over time. Hopefully you will be able to always remember the greatest memory is that bring you the most joy with James. I know I will. We wrap you all in our prayers. Love and hugs to you all until we see you again. And to James, I will never forget you, I will often think of you with admiration for the person that you were, until we see each other again in heaven.

He will be greatly missed, especially by my son, James Martin, here in VA. They became great friends & James really respected him. Remember the good times & smile.

Condolences. My heart aches to hear this news. I’m praying for everyone.

I’ve struggled to come up with something to write for the past few days about James, but I’ll do my best. James and I met working at Jimmy Johns back in 2012, during a pretty low point in my life. He was ALWAYS making you smile, I swear he would not let you be at work for more than 5 minutes without looking at you with some crazy, cross-eyed face or saying some completely random thing that you couldn’t help but burst out laughing at. He was forever making everyone in that place smile, employees and customers alike. Everyone loved James. That job would have never been as fun as it was without him.
Our first few years of knowing each other was a little rocky, but over the past couple of years James has reached out to me every now and then to check in on me. And lemme tell you what, he sure did have a way of perfectly timing those messages, right when I was in need of someone to talk to. His encouraging words would help get me back on my feet and moving forward again, and I wish I could thank him just one more time for that.
James was such a kind, caring person and brought so much joy and laughter to those around him. I didn’t get a chance to reply to his last message he sent me, but I sure do wish I could to just have one last conversation. Rest in peace to one of the most selfless, kindhearted, funniest people I’ve ever met. 

James Springer was one of the gentlest  people we have known, and was always 100%  kind to our 4 boys who were learning to speed skate.  To everyone in the family, our hearts grieve with you,
 Our faith is strong that he is in the tender care of our Heavenly Father, who loved him before any of us did, so he is the best of hands until we all meet again. Stay strong right now,, and always. ❤️



Our condolences to the Springer Family. I did not know James personally, but I can see he touched the lives of many people. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him.  I pray that God will give you strength and peace during this difficult time.

My former years were spent with the twins and their family. Going to church every Sunday and going to school with them as well. I had the biggest crush on Jimmy throughput those years and he always made everyone around him smile and laugh, I mean making his twin, Chris, annoyed sometimes 😅 but what sibling doesn't? I lost touch over the years after changing schools and leaving the church after the McMains moved. However, Jimmy seemed to grow into an amazing man. The whole family has my condolences and that just doesn't seem to suffice. He is out there watching over everyone now, free from this world. My love goes out to the family and close friends! 

My deepest condolences to the family!  James will be missed, he was a very friendly, down to earth, open and caring person, that I’m grateful and was honored to meet, and get to know.  I’m deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

One of the most profound moments I remember about you is when we rode to Tucson together in the van.
We got out at a Starbucks, and I was obsessing about some dryland. you came over and corrected me on how to relax and what I'm aiming for, and although it was a little thing Your course of action is what has impressed me all this time.

you recognized my obsession, and stepped into my importance. I didn't really know you at all at that time, but again, you recognized what was important to someone else in their life, and I've seen you do it again and again, and I've heard testimony of others witnessing the same in their lives, from you, again and again.

There are no words to describe the admiration, respect and love I had for James Springer. The list of positive memories and stories I have of him is endless. He fed me when I was hungry, he would give me money out of his own pocket if I was poor and he always made me laugh when I didn't want to...  I'll never forget his laugh, his infectious smile, his infamous 'HEY We'll seee yaa laaaater!'  to customer and friend alike when they'd leave Jimmy John's. He was an amazing person. One of kindest, most generous and genuinely GOOD people I'll ever have the pleasure of calling a friend.

And the best boss I ever had. I'll miss you forever, brother.



To say I am blessed to have known James is truly an understatement. His magnetic personality and willingness to help others are unmatched. I am lucky to say that the latter positively impacted me and I will be forever grateful. 

I will miss your wonderful sense of humor, our nerdy discussions about math, your passion for life, and even that singing voice or yours. Rest in peace my friend. While you have left us far too soon, your light will continue to shine in all of us. 

My heart goes out to the Springer family and everyone that was apart of his life. I looked up to James Springer and still do in his passing. He always looked out for everyone even if it put him in rough position, that's how big his heart was. The Jamestown crew at Three Chopt Jimmy John's will always remember James E. Springer. He will be forever missed.

The pain in my heart is to great to express.. I know you are with God now and heaven must be AWESOME!! But for those of us you left behind, this hurts like hell.
You always heard me without any judgements but a kind listening ear instead, you truly had a heart of gold.
God's timing is perfect but this feels too soon 💔

James was my rock, I worked with James at My Tax Busters. He taught me a lot about taxes. He brought the best out of all who knew him. On a sad day he would have you smiling instantly. Sweet James, my eyes fill with tears as I write this for you, your parents, your siblings, your family, your friends, your teammates and so many more. I know we never had the friendship that would allow me to write of special moments or memories but ironically enough as little as we saw each other…I could describe you with the exact same words as others. You always had a hug and a smile no matter if it was once a year or once every 3 years! If that’s not a true testament to who you were to ALL people no matter your level of friendship/interaction just truly shows your character and heart. I will be keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. I hope your sweet soul is laid peacefully to rest.
