

Jean graduated from Greeley High School in 1950. She went on to attend CSU where she was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority.
On June 15, 1952, she married Gerald “Jerry” Dean Mize in Greeley. They were married for 61 years until Jerry’s death in 2013. Together they raised two children – Kathy Mize Kaberline and Steven D. Mize.
Together Jean and Jerry owned Jerry’s Market until his retirement in 1994. After which they moved to Estes Park where they enjoyed their retirement years.
Jean was devoted to her family first and foremost. She was a very talented violinist and music was a big part of her life. She was a talented artist who enjoyed surrounding herself with her artwork. She also taught painting classes in Estes Park. Her other creative talents included jewelry design, sewing, knitting and crochet.
She was a member of the Greeley Chapter of Eastern Star, A.V.P.E.O. in Estes Park, Columbine Club of Estes Park, as well as several bridge clubs.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy Kaberline, Greeley; son, Steven Mize, Greeley; grandchildren, Tesa Kaberline Michaels, Oceanside, CA, Tavis Kaberline, Greeley, Merick Mize, Scottsdale, AZ, and Myah Mize, Greeley; and great granddaughter, Lilly Mae Kaberline. She is also survived by her sister Lorene Putnam , Windsor, CO.
Funeral services will be held at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO, on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with a reception to immediately follow in the Allnutt Reception Center
