John (Jack) Thomas Brown was born on a farm near Trenton, Nebraska on April 26, 1933, to Kenneth and Bernice (Jones) Brown, and he passed away February 4, 2026, at his home in Greeley, Colorado. Jack grew up working on the farm, after high school he did a stint in the Navy and later earned a two-year accounting degree. Over the years, Jack developed an interest in genealogy and spent many hours every week tracking down leads on his and Penny’s families.
He was easygoing, quick to laugh, and had a quiet generosity that defined him. He would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation and never asked for anything in return. He found his greatest joy simply being around the people he cared for most. Many will remember him for his bright orange tennis shoes, while others will remember how he never wanted to inconvenience anyone - a true reflection of his kindness and humility.
Jack married his wife of 54 years, Penny Mueller in 1971. Jack is also survived by
two children, Eric (Ashley) Brown of Fort Collins, CO, and Denise (T.J.) Brown of Brush, CO, stepdaughter Kari (Chuck) Kechter of Loveland, CO, six grandchildren, Bryanne Fontaine, Maddox Brown, Macee Brown, Christopher Ocanas, Michael Ocanas, Maribel Ocanas, and five great grandchildren, Journee, Patrick, Enola, Eri, and Eden Ocanas, and four sisters, Peggy Graff, Carol Williams, Vickie (Bob) Adams, and Bette Freeman.
