Jorge Luis Martinez

August 12, 1982 – August 23, 2011

Jorge Luis Martinez, 29, of Gilcrest, died as a result of an automobile accident on August 23, 2011. He was born in Brighton, Colorado on August 12, 1982 to Salomon and Josefina (Campos) Martinez, Sr.

Jorge was raised in Gilcrest. He played basketball in high school and later as a recreation. He graduated from Valley High school in 2001. He received his Associates Degree from Aims College. He started his career with Qwest Communications and worked with them 5 years.

Jorge was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gilcrest and then Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and was later a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Jorge was a talented artist and loved free hand drawing and sketching with pencils and pens. He loved to work on cars, especially Cadillac’s. He loved to listen to old school rhythm and blues music. He had a passion for living and spending time with friends. He was very fun loving. Above all was his love for his son, his family and friends.

Jorge is survived by his son Adrian Martinez of Greeley, mother Josefina Martinez, sister Victoria Marie Martinez and brother Salomon Martinez Jr. all of Gilcrest. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Platteville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Mizpah Cemetery, Platteville.
