Joseph attended San Marcos High School in San Marcos, Texas. In April 1973, he married Mary Valencia in Greeley. He was employed with River Rock Resurfacing in Wheat Ridge.
Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Greeley. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joseph was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Joseph is survived by daughter, Brenda Ybarra (Johnny); son, Shawn Perez (Jennie); sisters, Juanita Garcia (Tex), Mary Gonzalez (Mike) and Sally Perez; brothers, Ruben Perez (Celia), Jesse Perez and Martin Perez; grandchildren, Marie Ybarra, Nico Ybarra, Lila Ybarra, Daymond Perez and Natasha Rodriguez; great-grandchild, Attacuss Mendoza and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Perez, and sister, Victoria Benavides.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
