
He attended 12 grades in the Wray Schools and graduated in 1961. He was an all-conference basketball player in High School.
He attended Colorado State College in Greeley (now the University of Northern Colorado), and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity and active in Campus Crusade for Christ. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Math. He entered the insurance and real estate business upon graduation.
In 1970 he married Mary Hanson of Cheyenne and they had two children, Rachel and Rebecca. He was active in community affairs. He was a member of the Sertoma Club, the Weld County Apartment Association, and the Young Republicans. He was a recipient of the Junior Chamber of Commerce God and Country Award and the United Bank Distinguished Service Award. He served as president of the Greeley Underwriters and the Greeley Christian Businessmen. He was one of seven founding Board members of Dayspring Christian Academy. For the past ten years he regularly visited men and women in the Wyoming State Prisons and shared his faith in Jesus with them. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Amendola, daughter, Rebecca (Ryan) Lutgen and two grandsons.
He passed away February 17, 2017.
