

Loren David Gergens, 85 of Greeley, passed away at TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado on September 13, 2017. Loren was born February 9, 1932 in Pawnee City, NE, to Warren and Velma (Kanel) Gergens. He married Joan Albin on May 19, 1951 in Humboldt, NE. Joan died on July 7, 1995.
Loren grew up on a farm near Humboldt, NE. After he graduated from high school Loren served in the U.S. Navy as an Air Controlman from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War. Loren and Joan moved to Denver in 1955 where he graduated from the University of Denver in 1958 with a Business Degree. In 1967 he graduated from the post graduate Sloan Program at Stanford University. Loren began working for the Bell System (The Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph Company) in 1958 and retired from AT&T in 1980 as an Assistant Vice President. He retired early in 1980 to aid and assist his wife in the expansion and growth of her Needle Arts and teaching business. A decision he said he never regretted for one moment.
After Joan’s death in 1995 and the closing of her business, Loren kept very active in a number of different volunteer activities.
Loren is survived by his sons, Tom (Jean) Gergens and Jim Gergens; and grandchildren Eric, Cheryl and Wayne Gergens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his parents; and siblings Lee Gergens, Maxine Hamilton and Larry Gergens.
A visitation will be held from 1-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
