Louise Watkins Dyer Weber was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, November 20, 1931, to Helen and Clayton Watkins. She lived an extraordinary life, and died at her home September 20, 2014, under Pathways Hospice care after a short cancer encounter.
Her family moved to Fort Collins in 1938. She married Roger Dyer in 1951 after meeting him at Colorado A&M. Roger became a US Air Force Officer after graduation. They had 4 daughters: Virginia (McColm), Barbara (Brown), Paula (McCullough), and Natalie (Armstrong). They lived in many locations including Spain, Japan, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and California. Roger retired and they returned to Fort Collins in 1977. Louise was widowed in 1980. In 1985, she met Milt Weber on a raft trip on the Green River, and they were married in 1986. Lou and Milt traveled, rode horses, and skied for 15 wonderful years. Lou skied until she was 80 years old.
Lou’s friends came from her many interests – PEO, CSU Adult Fitness, St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Bronco fans. She remained active in Retired Officers’ Wives and FCHS ’49 Lambkin get-togethers.
She deeply loved her family, always willing and able to host a holiday or celebratory meal. Lou taught us to make a delicious pot roast, mend and sew, ride a horse, camp and fish, write a thoughtful letter, be a good neighbor and toast life with good friends. Her family and friends will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Roger and Milt, a stepson Mike Weber, and grandsons Griffin and Harrison Brown.
She is survived by her four daughters, one stepdaughter, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St Paul’s Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice. Services are scheduled Friday, October 3, at First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins at 10:00 a.m.
