

Luella Maurine Kinnison, 90, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away at North Colorado Medical Center after an acute illness on August 25, 2025, surrounded by family. Born February 14, 1935, in Chamois, Missouri, she moved with her family to Greeley in 1948. A graduate of Greeley High School and Colorado State College of Education (now UNC), she went on to earn her Master of Library Science from the University of Denver while raising her growing family.
In 1956, she married Ray Kinnison, and together they shared 60 years of devotion until his passing in 2016. Luella’s professional career was dedicated to the Weld County Library District, where she served as assistant librarian from 1961-65, Associate Director in 1970 and Director from 1984 until her retirement in 1997. Her leadership was instrumental in expanding the system and establishing the first library mill levy, leaving a legacy that continues to benefit the community.
Luella was also deeply involved in P.E.O., Rotary, and First United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully. A gifted quilter, painter, gardener, and cook, she embraced life’s creative joys. Above all, she cherished her family. Her life was a testament to love, service, and perseverance, leaving an enduring impact on all who knew her.
Above all, Luella cherished her family. She is survived by her three sons, Mike, Larry, Greg and their spouses, a very special niece Kimberly, her sister-in-law her two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Ray, her parents, and her brother.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception and fellowship, all at First United Methodist Church, 917 10th Avenue; Greeley, CO. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
