Luz "Lucy" Garcia

Luz “Lucy” Garcia, de 84 años, nació el 26 de febrero de 1942 en Chihuahua, México, y falleció el 20 de mayo de 2026. Con profundo respeto, honramos una vida marcada por la fortaleza ante los retos, una presencia que inspiraba a quienes la rodeaban y un sentido del humor que iluminaba cualquier momento.

A los 20 años, Lucy llegó a Colorado y con el tiempo hizo de Greeley su hogar, antes de mudarse a Denver en 1987. Se enamoró rápidamente de Denver y de su ritmo acelerado, un entorno que le venía como anillo al dedo. En cada etapa, supo abrirse camino con determinación y esa convicción tan suya de “Ya lo resolveré”, enfrentando la vida con independencia y una admirable capacidad para manejar cualquier situación.

Lucy fue madre de 8 hijos y encontró una de sus mayores alegrías en reunir a los suyos. Le encantaba cocinar y, con generosidad constante, solía recibir en su mesa a familiares y amistades durante las festividades. Esa pasión por la cocina dejó huella, sobre todo en sus hijos, que también aprendieron a apreciarla a través de los sabores, las reuniones y las tradiciones compartidas.

Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerla recuerdan también su espíritu bromista. A Lucy le gustaba hacer reír, y su risa —tan contagiosa— a veces la detenía a mitad de una historia, porque terminaba riéndose a carcajadas junto con quien la escuchaba. En esa alegría espontánea y en esa energía incansable se quedará, para siempre, una parte entrañable de su legado.

Lucy es sobrevivida por sus hijos(as) restantes, por su hermano Fernando Lechuga (Berta Lechuga Tena), y por varios nietos, bisnietos, sobrinas y sobrinos. Le precedieron en la muerte su hijo Jesus Manuel (Manny) Camarena; sus padres, Victor Manuel Lechuga y Maria de la Luz Perez; 2 hermanas y 6 hermanos, siendo el más reciente Everardo (Lalo) Lechuga.

El Servicio Funerario se llevará a cabo el 29 de mayo de 2026 a las 12:00 pm en Allnutt Funeral & Cremation - Macy, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.

El Entierro se realizará el 29 de mayo de 2026 a las 2:00 pm en Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 Cedar Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631.

Luz “Lucy” Garcia, 84, was born on February 26, 1942, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and passed away on May 20, 2026. With deep respect, we honor a life marked by strength in the face of challenges, a presence that inspired those around her, and a sense of humor that brightened any moment.

At age 20, Lucy arrived in Colorado and, over time, made Greeley her home before moving to Denver in 1987. She quickly fell in love with Denver and its fast pace—an environment that suited her perfectly. At every stage, she forged her own path with determination and her signature conviction of “I can figure it out” facing life with independence and an admirable ability to manage any situation.

Lucy was the mother of 8 children and found one of her greatest joys in bringing her family together. She loved to cook and, with constant generosity, often welcomed family and friends to her table during the holidays. That love of cooking left its mark, especially her children, who also learned to cherish it through flavors, gatherings, and shared tradition.

Those fortunate enough to have known her also remember her playful spirit. Lucy loved to make people laugh, and her laughter was so contagious it would sometimes stop her mid-story because she would end up laughing out loud along with whoever was listening. In that spontaneous joy and tireless energy, a beloved part of her legacy will remain forever.

Lucy is survived by her remaining children; by her brother Fernando Lechuga (Berta Lechuga Tena); and by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Jesus Manuel (Manny) Camarena; her parents, Victor Manuel Lechuga and Maria de la Luz Perez; 2 sisters and 6 brothers, the most recent being Everardo (Lalo) Lechuga.
