Born to Gerhardt and Ida Boese in Bloomfield, MT. Grades 1-8 were in a one room school where she walked several miles to and from with her older siblings. She lived on the family farm. Graduated from Dawson High School, Glendive, MT, 1943. Moved onto Billings, MT, and went to Western Union Teletypist School during WW II. Moved with Western Union to Portland OR and transferred again to Cheyenne, WY. She met the love of her life, Agustin (Blackie) Valencia, while he was sending a telegram to a girl in El Paso, TX… there is great speculation that the telegram was never received. They began dating shortly after that and were married in 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cheyenne.
In 1956 they purchased the LaSalle Trout Farm in LaSalle, CO. It provided private lakes and rivers with fresh trout for the enjoyment of the sport of fishing. The farm provided the wholesome upbringing of their 7 sons and 1 daughter: John, Michael, Richard, Marty, Eddie, Margaret, Neal, and TJ.
Marcy had a knack for bringing family and friends together; she made a legendary Mexican Dinner that was always sought after including tacos, enchiladas and tamales. She was not only a good cook, but an excellent baker as well. Her flapjacks, pies, homemade breads, and sugar cookies were always requested by her children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
One of her favorite past times was to garden on the trout farm, both flower and vegetable. The trout farm came to life every spring and summer in full bloom. Marcy also loved sewing and quilting, making sure that every grandchild received one of her beautiful custom tailored blankets each on their wedding day. Every great grandchild received a hand quilted embroidered baby quilt, with some in reserve for future great grandchildren.
Marcy had a wholesomeness about her; she loved our Lord, her husband, and her family. She left a legacy of qualities where we’ve all been inspired to be like her.
Marcy was the most thoughtful friend and gave generously of her time and self. She put others first and welcomed everyone into her home. She will be greatly missed and we wait patiently to join her in heaven.
