Margie was born May 14, 1936 to Margaret Hannah (McLaughlin) and Christian Frederick Plag, in Philadelphia, PA. Just a few years later, the family moved across the Delaware to Lindenwold, NJ where they built their home as one of the early landowners in the area. There, she and her sister, Dorothy, grew and attended school… eventually graduating from Overbrook Regional High School. It was during that time that she met her future husband, Robert William Gallagher, and they were wed on June 19, 1954, in Berlin, NJ. They were married 62 years before his passing in January of this year… 63 years at the time of hers.
Marge concentrated on family and raising their three kids for the next 20 or so years, and then returned to school in her 40’s, to achieve her Associates Degree in Accounting. She then spent a number of years keeping an eye on, and accounting for, the flow of money generated from the Atlantic City casino industry. She later managed the books for her brother-in-law’s commercial heating and air conditioning company, until retiring to care for her mother, in her late years.
In 1989, Marge and Bob fully retired, and moved to Estes Park, CO. Here in Estes Park, Marge was very active as a Charter Member, and bookkeeper, of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church. She made many wonderful and loved friends there.
Margie had a great love for travel, both at home and abroad, and for great food, and great wine… shared often with the company of those great friends and family. As with her husband, she also enjoyed many activities such as skiing, hiking, camping and canoeing.
She is survived immediately by her daughter, Dr. Kathleen G. Reims, and her husband, Dr. Randolph Reims, of Lafayette, CO; sons Robert, Jr. and Christian, both of Estes Park; and grandchildren Kevin & Colin Reims, of Lafayette, and Shayna & Connor Gallagher of Longmont. Marge is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Dottie & Harry Smith, of Munising, MI; brother-in-law, Leslie Gallagher, of Pine Hill, NJ; and sister-in-law, Arlene Killmer, of Clayton, NJ.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, located at 2000 Ptarmigan Trail in Estes Park. In-lieu-of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charitable organization of your choosing, or Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Ave., Estes Park, CO 80517.
