Margaret Ellen (Johnson) Trostel

Margaret Ellen Trostel passed away January 5th at her home in Greeley, Colorado

Services will be held Saturday February 8th, 2020 at 11am Mountain Time at Stoddard Memorial, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, CO

Margaret was born September 9th, 1932 in Oregon City, Oregon to Olaf and Virginia Johnson.

Margaret became a flight attendant for Western Airlines where she met Maynard Trostel on a blind date and they married January 23rd 1960.

Margaret is survived by her husband Maynard and her two sons Kurt and Phil.

Margaret had three grandchildren, from Phil and Christina, Isabella, Ava, and Antonio.

Margaret would visit her grandchildren every weekend. She was a loving, soft-hearted grandma. She lightheartedly demanded excellent behavior from her grandchildren and discretely delivered sweets.

Regarding her sons Kurt and Phil, Margaret was a stickler for proper English, command of the language, and demanded the most proper of table manners. Her entire life she was way ahead of her boys, detecting ill intent and shenanigans well before they happened.

In reward Margaret demanded her family travel extensively.

Maynard taught Margaret how to snow and water ski, sports which Kurt and Phil engaged in at a very early age and continue to this day. Margaret snow skied into her 70s at Winter Park/Mary Jane resort in Colorado. Cranmer was her favorite ski run at Winter Park.

Throughout Margaret’s life she nurtured animals and cultivated beautiful plants and flowers. It was common for Margaret to buy plants with no idea where to plant them. Somehow it would all come together.

Throughout her life Margaret would visit her brother Fred and his wife Carol in Pacific City in her home state of Oregon. The company of her brother and his wife Carol, the spectacular views in Pacific City, were a cherished refuge for Margaret.

Margaret is survived by her brother Fred Johnson in Pacific City Oregon. Margaret’s sister Valoyce preceded Margaret in passing in 2018.
