

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Maria Irma Lara, who left us on November 14, 2025, at the age of 79. Maria was born on November 7, 1946, in McAllen, Texas to Ismael and Loreto Salinas. Maria married Alejandro Lara on June 6, 1961, in Wizard, Idaho and moved to Johnstown, Colorado, and were blessed with eight children.
Maria re-married Otilio Rascon in May 1991, and relocated to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she was well known for her burritos and tamales. Maria enjoyed crafting, cooking, traveling, casinos, thrifting, dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with loved ones. Maria touched the lives of many with boundless kindness, unwavering generosity, and a remarkable sense of humor.
Maria is survived by her husband, Otilio Rascon, her children: Anna Avila, Jose (Tina) Lara, Ruben Lara, Amanda (Domingo) Palomo, Rachel Barraza, Ricardo Lara, Alfredo Lara, and Felix Lara, her step-children: Oscar (Estella) Rascon, Humberto (Patricia) Rascon, Cesar Rascon, Omar (Lorena) Rascon, Teresa Rascon, 33 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Maria is proceeded in death by her parents, Ismael and Loreto Salinas, sisters Amparo and Julia, brothers Gilberto, Santos, Mauro, Alejandro Salinas.
A celebration of Maria Irma Lara's life will be held on December 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home at 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her enduring legacy.
Maria Irma Lara will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, laughter, and inspiration she brought into our lives.
