She was born February 25, 1932, in Hartford, Wisconsin, to Lyle and Lillian (Benike) Leach. She graduated from Hartford High School in 1950 and went on to attend Whitewater State Teachers College in Wisconsin.
On September 5, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Schulz, in Hartford, Wisconsin. They shared 46 joyful years of marriage before Donald died in 2000. Marilyn and Don lived in Madison, Wisconsin and Santa Clara, California before moving to Loveland in March of 1963.
Marilyn was a proud and dedicated homemaker. Her life revolved around her family and her church. Her love for the Lord was evidenced by her 37 years of Sunday School teaching, her service on various church committees, and her volunteer efforts as a driver for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Hope, and a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church.
Marilyn was a great cook and loved her pets, especially her orange-and-white cats. She enjoyed reading the newspaper, working crossword puzzles, and making up goofy rhymes. She loved to get together with her friends for lunch and shopping.
Marilyn is survived by her sons Mark (Kristin Draper) and Paul (Denisa) Schulz, daughter Cynthia “Cyndy” Brown, and nine grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff and support personnel at North Shore Health & Rehab Facility for their exceptionally kind and tender care of Marilyn during the final years of her life.
