While embraced by her family, Mary Alice Alaniz, age 74, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. She was born on July 19, 1941 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Euselio and Trinidad (Vasquez) Almaguer.
Mary was raised with 6 siblings. They were children of migrant workers and they traveled all the time. When Mary was introduced to Jorge Alaniz, they both knew it was love at first sight. Jorge and her were married on November 26, 1960 in Lubbock, Texas and then they moved to Gilcrest, Colorado to raise their family. Mary retired from Bonell Good Samarian as a cook after 20 years of service.
Mary was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church then transferred to St. Peters Catholic Church here in Greeley.
Mary is survived by husband, Jorge; sons, George Alaniz Jr. and Tony (Donna); sisters, Carmen (Salvador) Ojeada and Josephina (Joe) Reta; brother, Eusebio Jr. (Juana) Almaguer; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A Viewing will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 with Recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
