

She attended schools in Ault and Pierce, graduating from Pierce High School in 1941. She married Carroll Clark in December, 1941. He passed away in 1945 while serving in the U.S. Navy. She married Ralph H. Green on December 4, 1949, at the First Lutheran Church in Ault. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2016.
Mary Lou worked six years for the Weld County Health Department. She also worked five years for Greeley School District Six as a teachers' aide. She was active in the Greeley Excelsis Women’s Club, serving as president in 1970. She was a member of the American Red Cross, volunteering at North Colorado Medical Center for 35 years. Mary Lou also served eight years as secretary-treasurer of the Greeley Knife and Fork Club (1981-1989).
Mary Lou and her husband are members of the First United Methodist Church of Greeley where she was very active in church circles for many years. Following her husband’s retirement in 1989, the couple traveled widely seeking family genealogy information. Travels also included visiting her relatives in Sweden, sightseeing in Europe, an Alaska Cruise, a Panama Canal cruise, and a cruise with friends along the northeastern US coast and eastern Canada. Fall and spring vacations in Arizona afforded them brief stays away from the cold.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph, their daughters, Laurie (Dennis) Stansbury of Johnstown and Nancy Green of Denver, and their son, Robert (Tami) Green, of Windsor, and her sister, Darlene (Don) Schluter of Greeley. Grandchildren include Melissa (Paul) von Goertz of Richardson, TX, Kristen (Josh) Botts of Richardson, TX, Andrew (Christy) Green of Ft. Worth, TX, and Sarah (Alex) May of Highlands Ranch, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and a brother, Gus Leroy Peterson, preceded her in death.
There will be a viewing at Allnutt Macy Chapel, Thursday December 15, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM.
There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 917 10th Avenue, in Greeley. A private family burial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
