Mary V. (Cagle) Wilder Hale, 97, of Loveland, passed away on May 27, 2015. Mary was born May 1, 1918, in Pikeville, TN, to Oliver and Janie (Rankin) Cagle. Along with her parents and two brothers, Roy and J.P., Mary moved to Longmont, Colorado, when she was 12. In 1934, she married her childhood sweetheart, Alvin Wilder. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder had two children, son Len and daughter Beverly. Mary worked at several jobs while raising her children, but was employed by Mountain Bell/US West for 30 years before retiring in 1980. Sadly, her beloved Alvin passed away in January of 1985. To her family’s great joy, love found Mary once more when she met Floyd Hale. Mary and Floyd wed in the summer of 1986 and spent 25 years together before his passing in 2011.
Mary remained active into her 80’s, bowling, golfing and traveling with both Alvin and Floyd. Mary enjoyed entertaining and was the consummate hostess. She also liked to sew and found time to create many outfits for her granddaughters and their Barbie dolls. All of her life, she loved her crossword puzzles and was quick to come up with an answer that might stump anyone else. She was a member of First Christian Church and of the Ladies Elk’s. Among her family and dear friends, Mary will be remembered for her warm smile and the twinkle in her eyes.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Janie; husbands Alvin Wilder and Floyd Hale; and brothers J.P. and Roy Cagle. She is survived by her children Len Wilder (Sherrl), Beverly Barraclough, Jim Hale (Carma), Judith Mucklow (Kenneth Hayes) and Sonnie Graves (Rich Hritsick); grandchildren Bob Wilder (Glo), Jeff Wilder (Shellie), and David Wilder (Charlotte), Paula Wacker (Bill), Mark Barraclough, Matt Barraclough (Jo), and Michelle Barraclough (Pete McDonnell); and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
