

Mary Frances Morton passed away on February 27, 2026, at her home in Greeley, Colorado, surrounded by her family. Born on August 16, 1935, in Greeley, Mary Frances was a proud native of Colorado who cherished her roots and community.
Mary Frances found her greatest joy in her family. She was married to William Morton and together they raised two daughters. She was also blessed with two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, who brought immense happiness to her life.
Mary Frances had a fulfilling career as a realtor and was honored to serve as president of the Board of Realtors. Her dedication extended beyond her profession, as she was actively involved in community service. She served on several boards, including the Greeley/Weld County Housing Authority and the Catholic Charities Guadalupe Center Farm Labor Housing Board, making a meaningful impact in her community.
Mary Frances deeply valued the time she spent with her friends and family, and they treasured every moment with her in return. Her quick wit brought laughter to gatherings, and her generous, loving nature was evident in the way she interacted with others. She was always ready to offer thoughtful support during times of need, making those around her feel cared for and uplifted.
In addition to her warm presence, Mary Frances enjoyed a variety of activities that enriched her life and brought her joy. She loved hiking and found pleasure in the beauty of nature. Ice skating was another passion, and she pursued it with remarkable determination—even taking lessons in her seventies. Her dedication paid off, as she became proficient enough to skate backwards with both confidence and grace. Dancing, playing poker, especially when she was winning, and enjoying the game of mahjong were also favorite pastimes that showcased her vibrant spirit and love for life.
Mary Frances is survived by her daughters, Sandra Schaumberg and Kim Morton; her grandchildren, Chris Schaumberg and Kaitlyn McNaughton; and her great-granddaughters, Autumn and Winter McNaughton.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Morton; her parents, Arsene and Dora Piedalue; her siblings, Joe Piedalue, Margaret Dolby, Bernice Groeger, Edward Piedalue, and Bobbie Morrill; and her granddaughter, Karli Schaumberg.
A rosary and mass will be held at St. Mary’s on March 17, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the burial, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather and share memories at, 5719 W 24th St., starting at 1:30 p.m.
