Mary Foster Sauter

Mary attended Colorado State College of Education (now UNC). She graduated with a BA in Secondary Education in 1947. She completed her graduate work in Library Media at CU, CSU, Arizona State, Western State and Aims Community College.

Mary married Ralph Sauter in 1947. In 1957 she accepted a position as librarian for Brighton High School. In 1963 she accepted the position as librarian in Kennesburg, CO. Mary assisted in creating the High Plains Library System Service. She also served on the Council. Mary retired from her position in Keenesburg in 1986.

Mary was a member of C.E.A.-N.E. A., American Library Association, and Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. She served two terms as President of the Newman Clubs, was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and, after her retirement, was active in the Lady of the Desert Guild at St. Georges Church in Apache Junction, AZ.

Mary is survived by children, Father John Sauter, Our Lady of the Assumption, Overgaard, AZ, Constance “Connie” (husband Guy) Barr, Carlisle, PA, Ralph Anthony “Andy” Jr. (wife Julie) Sauter, Pierce, CO, Foster Jerome “Jerry” (wife Betty) Sauter, Byers, CO, William “Bill” (wife Karen) Sauter, Littleton, CO, David (wife Jill) Sauter, Eaton, CO, and Bartholomew “Jamie” Sauter, Kennesburg, CO. Mary is also survived by her sister Helen Eisenman; 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; nine sisters; two brothers; her husband, Ralph A. Sauter; and daughter, Sister Catherine Elizabeth ASC.

A Rosary will be held at 11:00 A.M., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:30 Thursday, March 16th, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley. Inurnment in the family plot at Mizpah Cemetery, Platteville, CO will be held following a luncheon at the church.
