Matilda Miller

Tillie was born in Windsor Colorado to Maria Elizabeth and Jacob Hill. Jacob was born in Doennhof, Russia and Maria was born in Dietel Russia. Maria and Jacob met and married in Windsor, Colorado and raised their daughters in Windsor until their deaths. Tillie had one brother and six sisters, her brother and 2 sisters died in infancy.

Tillie married Thomas John (TJ) Mellon on May 16, 1948. TJ was a farmer and they lived on a farm in Johnstown, Colorado. TJ and Tillie had three daughters, Melody, Merry and Starr. TJ passed away of lung cancer on March 12, 1959. Tillie raised her daughters in Johnstown until November of 1970. Her three daughters had graduated High School by this time. Tillie married Martin Paul (Bud) Miller on November 1, 1970, and moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where Bud had built them a house. Bud's three sons, Jack, Greg and Joe had graduated from High School in Cheyenne at the time of their marriage. Bud was a carpenter in Cheyenne until he retired at the age of 62. Bud passed away from cancer on August 10, 1996.

Tillie graduated High School in Windsor, Colorado. She worked at the Wayside Inn in Berthoud, Colorado for 12 years as she was raising her daughters in Johnstown. Tillie was a member of the Helping Hands in Cheyenne for several years after marrying Bud. She then moved to Billings, Montana with her daughter, Starr from May of 2015 to September of 2017 to be closer to her daughter, Merry. After Starr remarried and moved to Gilcrest, Starr and Merry took turns having Tillie live with them in Gilcrest and Billings from September of 2017 to December of 2019. She then lived in Windsong Memory care in Greeley, Colorado until she passed away.

Tillie attended and was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Windsor, Colorado as she was growing up. Although she did not attend church after she married, she maintained her faith in the Lutheran Church throughout her life. Tillie loved to read, go for rides and plant flowers in her yard in Cheyenne including tulips and lilies.

Tillie is survived by her daughters, Melody Riffel, Merry Richmond and Starr (Roger) Counter and two stepsons, Greg and Joe Miller. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lennie Riffel, Darcee (Joe) Roodell, Austin (Kayce) Richmond and Tiffany Richmond. Tillie is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Walker and Tanner Roodell, Maliyah York, Adara, Zoe and Sadie, Steve and Ethan Riffel and three great great grandchildren.

Predeceased family include her parents, Jacob and Maria Hill, husbands, TJ Mellon and Bud Miller, sisters, Caroline Sell, Linda Fahrenbruck, and Minnie Gonsior, son in laws, Paul Meza, Kent Richmond and Steve Riffel Sr., her grandson Steve Riffel Jr. and stepson Jack Miller.

Funeral services will be held at Allnutt Funeral Services Macy Chapel at 6521 West 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634 at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 17, 2022. Afterwards a light lunch will be serviced at Allnutt's reception room.
