

Nancy Burdette passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 16, 2019. Born Nancelie Utt to Kate and Clyde Utt in Dallas, TX October 17, 1921. She attended Dallas Public Schools, graduating from Adamson High School in 1938. She attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington, TX (now known as University of Texas Arlington) and graduated from North Texas State College, Denton, Texas (now known as University of North Texas) in 1942 with a BS degree in Business.
Nancy met future husband, Robert (Bob) Shepherd Burdette of Roswell, NM while they were students at NTSC and they were married in the First Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Texas on November 27, 1943, after he completed Basic Training in the U. S. Army.
While Bob was serving in the Army during WWII in Europe, Nancy worked for the National War Labor Board in Dallas. After the war, Bob continued his education at the University of Colorado and eventually graduated from NTSC. He and Nancy moved to Roswell where he worked for 4 years before moving to Lubbock TX to enroll at Texas Tech University to study architecture. Bob and Nancy returned to Roswell in 1959 after he finished his studies where they stayed until 1963.
They moved again in 1963 to Santa Fe and a couple of years later to Los Alamos, NM where Nancy worked as a secretary for 13 years at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory where Bob also worked. They retired from the Lab in 1978 to his home in Roswell, NM, where she was active in the First United Methodist Church, Chapter K, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Wed. Bridge Club, and Friday Morning Coffee Club.
In 2009 Nancy moved to Fox Run Senior Living in Greeley, CO to be near her daughter Karen and her family. Always putting others first, she continued to support her many causes and charities including Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Kamukama Foundation, Smile Train and Samaritan’s Purse. Living her life as a reflection of her faith, she believed that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, brother Clyde Edward Utt and wife Virginia, and granddaughter Demory Anne Kirkpatrick.
Survived by son Robert Milo Burdette and wife Carol, Austin, TX, Karen Lee Kirkpatrick and husband Paul, Greeley, CO, two grandchildren, Ali Melissa Kirkpatrick and Samuel Robert Kirkpatrick and numerous nieces.
A Memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held in the chapel of First Congregational Church, 2101 16th St. Greeley, CO on Monday, June 24 at 11:00 AM. Nancy will be laid to rest at a later date in Roswell, NM beside her husband Bob.

Nancy loved well and was well loved.
