Nevah J. Van Arsdol

Nevah J. Van Arsdol, 98 of Kersey, passed away at Sterling House in Greeley on May 4, 2015. She was born November 2, 1916 in Woodbine, Iowa to Harry J. and Fae (Watkins) Tupper, Sr. She married Virgil Van Arsdol on December 15, 1938 in Woodbine, Iowa. Virgil passed away in 1996.

Nevah graduated from Shelby Iowa High School in 1934 and Iowa University and Cedar Falls Teachers College in 1937. She lived in Iowa until 1945 when she moved to Evans, CO where she lived until 1953. She lived in Cheyenne, WY from 1953 until she moved to Kersey, CO in 1964. She moved to Greeley in 2013.

Nevah was a homemaker. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, leading Bible studies, working in the yard, reading, playing cards and being with family. In addition to raising her own children, Nevah was a foster parent to 125 children over 20 years. She was a member of the Kersey Community Church.

She is survived by her children, Jack (Betty) Van Arsdol, Centennial, CO, Keith (Dianne) Van Arsdol, Moab, UT, Kent (Susan) Van Arsdol, Sand Springs, OK, Kevin Van Arsdol, Gilcrest, CO, Florence (Stan) Christensen, Cheyenne, WY, Janice (Don) Case, Kimball, NE, and Vicki (Jake) Miller, Greeley, CO; brother Harry (Susan) Tupper, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Van Arsdol; her parents; infant son Donnie; twin brother Cloyce; brother Keith; sister Cleo; and grandson Jim.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A Celebration of Nevah’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Kersey Community Church. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Kersey Community Church.
