He was born September 8, 1939, in New York City to Robert and Mariette (Cheronnet) Jacobson. Following World War II, Paul’s family moved west for work when Paul was 7 years old, settling in Lewiston, Idaho.
Paul met Ann Lake at Living Springs Ranch in the Spokane, Washington area during their involvement in the Jesus People movement. They were also part of contemporary Christian intentional communities in the Episcopal church in Spokane and Denver. They were married on May 11, 1974 in Denver, Colorado at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church. Together they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and a love of the outdoors. They lived in the Denver area, where Paul worked as a millwright, later becoming a prototype machinist, and eventually transitioning into computer-aided drafting and design. At the same time, he became an EMT to be on his company emergency response team. He also taught classes for American Red Cross and was an instructor trainer for American Heart Association. In 1986, Paul and Ann moved to Greeley, Colorado where he continued his career designing industrial machinery as well as teaching computer aided design and hydraulics at Front Range and Aims Community Colleges as an adjunct faculty member.
Paul and Ann enjoyed playing music, Paul on his bass guitar and Ann singing and sometimes playing guitar, and they participated in church worship teams. They both shared a deep appreciation for nature and adventure. They enjoyed hiking, camping, and backpacking together, and served as campground hosts for Colorado State Parks. They also cherished time spent sailing on their sailboat.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his children, Paul "Erik" Jacobson, Kirstin Jacobson, Ingrid Luevano, and Sonja Jacobson Spielman; and his grandchildren Vanessa, Cathy, Michael, Amber, and Christopher; as well as other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mariette Jacobson.
Paul will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his craftsmanship, and his enduring love of the outdoors.
