It is with great sadness that the family of Rachel M. Trujillo-Luna announce her passing on February 21, 2022, at the age of 80. Rachel was born to Salvador and Josefa Trujillo on October 22, 1941, in Montana.
In 1943, the family moved to Fort Collins, CO and then to Eaton CO until 1954. Rachel attended school in Eaton.
In 1957, Rachel married and had two sons, Cruz and Paul. On May 11, 1968, Rachel married the love of her life, Lorenzo (Lee) Luna. For 53 years, God blessed their loving marriage until death did them apart. Rachel and sons were a pillar of support while Lee served in the Army. In 1978, the Luna family moved to Monterey, CA while Lee was stationed at Fort Ord. After supporting their Country, the Luna family moved to Indiana where they became foster parents for a couple of years at the Christian Haven Home for boys. Their next adventure took the Luna family to Colorado Springs, CO where they helped manage Trini’s Mexican Restaurant owned by Lee’s sister and brother-in-law. In 1988, they moved to Denver, CO where they selflessly welcomed Rachel’s 5 young cousins into their home and raised them as their own. The youngest of the five, twins Edward and Edwina (Eddie and Windi) were especially close to their “mom and dad.” Rachel felt blessed to have Windi as her daughter.
Rachel worked for King Soopers in Denver and Greeley from 1988 until her retirement in 1999.
One of the most memorable events in Rachel’s life happened on Easter Sunday in 1978. On that day Rachel gave her heart and soul to Jesus at the First Assembly of God Church. She had an amazing life serving Christ. She could always be found volunteering in multiple activities at church. At Victory Christian Fellowship, she loved being a part of the “CAB” ministry and was willing to serve in any way. When the Luna’s moved to Denver, they became members of Happy Church and then, Church on the Move. Rachel quickly found her ministry with her amazing talent of sewing. She could create a masterpiece from any piece of cloth. It gave her immense joy to make little dresses and thousands of cloth diapers to send to underserved countries.
Rachel is survived by her husband Lee Luna, her son Paul Luna, her daughter Windi Duran (Eugene), Brothers: Sam Trujillo Jr. (Connie), Jesse Trujillo, Danny Trujillo, Sisters: Patricia Vigil (Roger), and Teri Trujillo. Rachel had 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family in Christ.
Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, brother John Trujillo, sons Cruz and Eddie, two grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 10:30 am at Victory Christian Fellowship, 6101 W. 10th Street, Greely CO. A potluck reception will follow in the dining hall.
Flowers and plants may be sent in care of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
