When Reta was 18, she married Henry on 9/23/1951, whom she had met and dated in Fort Morgan. Bobby Dean was born on 07/31/1953 and soon after they moved to Greeley where Deborah Irene was born on 09/11/1956.
Reta always put family first. She was a great cook and home maker. She taught her kids manners, how to earn and save money and many other life skills of which she learned on her own. She was a den mother for Boy Scouts and helped with events with the girl scouts. She learned to sew from her mother Isabelle and made many of our clothes.
Once we were older and could take care of ourselves, she went to work for UNC McCowen Hall cooking breakfast for 400 college kids. They loved her and named her Reta Meter Maid. She retired after 14 years.
Mom loved people, and they loved her back. She especially loved children and would never hesitate to say hi to any she met along the way.
In the past few years she lived in assisted living. She made many friends there and loved to visit and play games.
In later years, Henry didn’t care to travel. Mom enjoyed traveling and when she and a couple girlfriends went to Branson, MO, Las Vegas, and Hawaii they became known as “The Golden Girls”! They had a ball together.
Mom will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.
