Mr Hester,what a great principal you were,that’s what a principal should aspire to be,I’ll never forget you and the talks we had during my years at Greeley central,you were an inspiration and I’ll forever remember you and the talks I had with you ,a man with so much knowledge and wisdom you passed on to other folks,may god bless you and watch over you,I don’t believe I ever saw you without a smile on your face and that I’ll remember always as well

Stephanie and I graduated from Stratford High School in 1952.  Rex was our coach and teacher.  He had a very positive influence on our lives!!!  Rex was very dedicated to his profession.  We enjoyed visits in Greeley, Pisgah, and Stratford many years after our graduation from Stratford High.  Rex and Judy were always very welcoming.  We will miss our yearly greeting from the Hester Hilton.  We have many fond memories.  May our thoughts and prayers give the Hester family continued strength.

I was a student at GCHS in the 70's. Those were wild times. My dad taught social studies there at that time. We both had the greatest respect for Mr Hester.  He had to deal with streakers and 
remodeling and racial tensions and more, all with grace and strength and patience.

Rex was my high school coach for baseball and basketball.  He nicknamed me ""Sach"" after a black baseball player that was also a side-arm pitcher.  If Rex had not been a part of my high school years I doubt that I would ever had graduated.  He was a very special and respected part of my life and will forever have a place in my memories.

Kyle and Kent, words cannot express how grateful I am to your dad for all the good things he has done for Tommy.  He was a kind man ..  Thanks again and god bless your families  Nancy  Mccord

Mr. Hester was such a great Principal!  Always involved with his students while we were there at Central and for years  following.  He always made guest appearances at our reunions over the years reminding us all how we had aged.  What a great crew he ran at the school and so many of his students and teachers remained close over all these years!  Because we all cared about him and he cared about us!  I'm sorry I was  out of town and not able to be at the service to hear the stories and see everybody.

A life  well lived!

Dear Kyle, Kent and families....so sorry, but we were out of town and unable to attend your dad's funeral.  We stopped over to see Rex on Christmas Eve and laughed with him as always.  He was as sharp and quick witted as ever and remembered stories about Sara and Grant back when we lived down the street and they were still in school.  When the kids would have their pictures in the Tribune Sports section, Judy and Rex would cut them out and bring them over.  Made each of them feel so special.  Anytime I would leave the house and Rex was outside he would flag me down to see how we were doing ""on the other side of the street"".  I treasure those visits from a kind man who was as genuine as can be.  The memories of neighborhood get-togethers, birthday parties and Christmas decorations that were part of our holiday traditions will stay with our family forever.  God bless you all.

I have always remembered foundly our dedicated enthusiastic Principal, Mr. Rex Hester, at GCHS!  I will never forget him jumping off a ladder at a Homecoming celebration in the gym and breaking both ankles sometime during my H.S. years, 1968-1971.  In most recent years, my parents and I would drive by their house at Christmas time to enjoy their family passion of decorating their home outside for all to enjoy!  I wish I could be at the funeral to celebrate Mr. Hester's life but send my love and condolences to the family...Hi to Kyle!

Rex was a decent and fair man. I should know, I was in his office alot. Through the years  he was very kind to my younger brother who had been injured in an accident. Really, really appreciated that. God Bless.

Mr. Pisgah will be missed by many. Are there gooseberries in Heaven?God's Blessings to a special family .  What  an all around great guy ! Love from Janie and Helen Mann.

Rex was the prince and I was Snow White in our  8th grade operetta--We always admired him.

Mr Hester was my principal during a particularly difficult time in my life. I was the Student Body President graduating in 1971 and had a lot of interaction with Mr Hester..I will tell you ...he was my rock. 

In my senior year  I became sick and wasn't able to participate in Wildcat athletics and academics like I wanted to ...more importantly... during that year my mom was stricken with cancer. In the spring she died. It was rough but I will never forget at the end of the year I was awarded  a ""Gold G"" for Leadership....and it was presented to me by Mr. Hester. As he looked me in the eyes and shook my hand and said ""Congratulations"" ....I could see he was honoring my famlily........all I could think to say was thank you. But what I wanted to say was THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! With the emphasis on YOU! I am a better me because of him. He was compassionate and caring and kind. I wish I could be at his services HONORING HIM but I will be in CA with my 95 yr old dad reliving some of the Central stories. SO PLEASE to all......Honor Mr. Hester well....he earned and deserves it.

Mr. Hester  was principal at Greeley Central High while I was a student.  He was always kind and smiling.  I am sure that he he could be tough when needed.  I was never sent to the principle office to see that side of him.  I send my deepest  regrets on his passing to his family and friends.  He touched so many lives.

So sorry to hear about Rex.   I first met Rex when he was playing for Central and I was playing for West in a faculty basketball game to raise money for the two booster clubs.  Rex and I fought over a loose basketball at one point in the game.  I got to know him and we became good friends.   He also sang for a time with me in a barbershop chorus.  My wife and I drove by his Christmas decorated home every year--amazing.   We'll miss you Rex.             Gary Bracken, West High English Teacher and coach

I was at Greeley Central when Mr Hester was principal.  I graduated in 1974. He was a very kind man, I remember that he had a great sense of humor. Sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.

My parents had a wonderful friendship with Rex and Judy and I've heard so many amazing stories! My mom and Judy are likely chatting it up in heaven and now Rex has to try and get a word in! Well done, good and faithful servant. With love from Iowa. Gina Potratz Kaufman
