

Richard A. Gamble, 88, of Greeley, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at North Shore Health and Rehabilitation in Loveland. He was born on June 28, 1927 in Kendall, Kansas to William Richard and Bertha Fae (Wells) Gamble. He was an only child.
Richard and his family moved to Denver when he was young. He graduated from Englewood High School. He served in the US Navy from 1945 to July 1946.
In June 1948, he married Georgina James in Denver.
Richard’s first job was working in the coal mines. He then started working for Mountain States Telecommunications (now Century Link) as an Engineer, where he worked for 50 years, until retiring in 1992. He volunteered at McKee Medical Center after the loss of his wife.
Richard was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and line dancing. After his retirement he traveled in an RV, wintering at the tip of Texas.
Richard was a great provider for his family. His family came first and he was very supportive. His peacefulness was his strength. Richard was a wonderful grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Ivan) Pagel; son, Melvin “Mel” (Monika) Gamble; two grandchildren, Jason (Katherine) Pagel and Erin (Jason) Jernigan and three great-granddaughters, Ava Pagel and Emma and Evie Jernigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Georgina.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Resthaven Chapel, Loveland. Interment Resthaven Cemetery, Loveland.
