Steve was born July 29, 1953 in Winsted, Connecticut to George Gordon Price and Mildred (Millie) Elizabeth Acker. Tragically, Millie passed away an hour after Steve was born. His paternal grandmother, Monica took care of him until the age of two and a half. Steve's father married Martha Deming Dautrich shortly after. His childhood pets included two dogs named Yule and Doc, as well as a cat named Wilby. Later in life by 1980, Steve married Louise LaChance until 2009.
Steve was an excellent student as he graduated from The Gilbert School in 1971. He then earned his Associates Degree in Electronics from University of Hartford and got his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from CCSU. Steve also graduated from Manchester Community College with a degree in Occupational Therapy. After working for 20 years as an I.T. manager at Dutch Point Credit Union and as a Team Leader for support technicians at Pfizer, he made a career change and helped people as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Ever since Steve was a boy, he enjoyed woodworking. In his twenties, he enjoyed designing and building high fidelity speakers. His retirement years were spent learning to play the bass guitar, and taking care of his eldest daughter, Monica. He was an enthusiastic grandfather, moving to Colorado to be an integral part of his grandson's life. Steve enjoyed classic rock, learning magic tricks, gardening, UCONN Women's Basketball, attending Northeast Organic Farming Association conferences, and spending time with his family. He dedicated considerable time and effort to creating specialneedsfamilyfun.com, a free resource for families with special needs.
Steve is survived by his oldest daughter, Monica Price of Brattleboro, Vermont and his youngest daughter, Martha (Joshua) Kyler of Greeley, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchild, James Kyler who is Martha and Joshua's son.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Gordon Price, his birth mother, Mildred Elizabeth Acker, and his mom, Martha Deming Dautrich.
