

Thelma Johnson, 86 was called home May 12, 2014. She passed away surrounded by family at her residence in Greeley. She was born January 25, 1928 in Auxier, Kentucky to Frank and Myrtie (Burchett) Burke.
Thelma was raised and attended school in Kentucky where she was a teacher for some time. She married Russell Johnson on June 12, 1948 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. They lived in Kentucky and southern Indiana where they raised four children. She worked for many years at the Olin Matheson chemical and munitions plant in Indiana manufacturing supplies for the Vietnam War. They moved to Greeley in 1973. Thelma and Russell worked as managers of several Greeley apartments and self storage businesses during their years together. Russell passed away in 1989.
Thelma is survived by her sister Viola Collins of Columbus, Ohio; daughters Linda Graham and June (Robin) Terry of Greeley; sons Bryan Johnson of Clarksville, Indiana and Ted (Evelyn) Johnson of Kersey; eight grandsons, one granddaughter, nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband Russell and brothers Darwin (Helen) Burke and OraJames (June) Burke.
A private family service will be held graveside when she is laid to rest with Russell at the Fort Logan National Cemetery.
