Travis Mitchell Girard, a.k.a. “Big Mac", passed away at the young age of 17 from complications of pneumonia. He was born to Sean and Andrea Girard June 3, 2000, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. That’s when the real excitement began. The birth started out fine until Big Mac decided that he wasn’t quite ready for the stardom and fame he was most sure to create…episiotomy time. With a snip and a good tug, we were granted a son. We were so happy and delighted because we wanted his gender to be a surprise.
About a year later, while watching him sleep in his crib, I asked his mom, "When's he gonna start doing stuff?” Well readers, it wasn’t long before Travis started making us so proud. He excelled at football, baseball, wakeboarding, deep-sea fishing, and BMX racing where he won a ton of trophies. Travis had so many interests. He loved science, sports and robotics to name a few. We believe most will remember how kind, compassionate, and generous Travis was to everyone he met. He was a very sweet boy.
At 12 1/2 years old, Travis had a very serious snowmobile accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Our son fought so hard to climb out of that chair. He endured countless therapies and treatments. Our spirited warrior will live in our hearts forever.
Travis was preceded in this life by his grandparents, Tom and Wanda Peters, and Uncle Scott Girard, all of Cheyenne.
Travis is survived by his parents, Sean and Andrea of Greeley; grandfather, Darrell Girard, of Cheyenne; Aunt Shelley Girard of Montana and her son, Joe Garcia, of California; Uncle David Peters and cousins Kai, Yuhi and Maiya, also of Greeley.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
