Veleda N. Jackson, 89, of Greeley, passed away on July 24, 2014 at Grace Pointe in Greeley. She was born May 19, 1925 in Cheyenne, WY, to George and Olinda (Mitchell) Brungard. She married Neil “Tuck” Jackson on February 6, 1944. He died in 2008.
Veleda moved to Greeley in 1930. She graduated from Greeley High School. Veleda worked as an office clerk for Greeley Producers Livestock for 15 years.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Congregational Church.
Veleda loved bowling, reading, being with her children and grandchildren; family was very important to her. She also enjoyed shopping even if she didn’t buy anything. She also enjoyed collecting tea cups.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Jackson, Ault, CO and Tim Jackson, Greeley, CO; daughters, Linda (Ken) Kohlmeier, Chandler, AZ, and Jean Ritchey, Lexington, KY; brother Calvin Brungard, Greeley, CO; sister, Joan Cogburn, La Salle, CO; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister Claudine Kendeigh.
A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
