

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and great grandmother, who spent her working life in the healthcare field. She was a very hard worker, an excellent cook, and enjoyed sewing and reading. She also enjoyed taking walks, playing cards, and patio lunches with her daughter Patricia. Virginia made fabulous cinnamon rolls, jelly rolls, delicious fresh tortillas, homemade pickles, homemade jams, and fabulous spicy sausage. She also loved attending Patricia’s GPO concerts, Mariachi Sol De Mi Tierra presentations with Patricia at Tres Margaritas in Longmont, an appearance with the Denver Colorado Symphony, and music programs at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Fort Collins. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was a devout Catholic.
Virginia was born on March 21, 1931, in San Luis, CO, the first of five children of Gilbert and Dumicilia Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her infant sister Florence, her parents, her husband of 58 years, Joseph Lucas Gomez, and brother Louis Diego Sanchez. She is survived by two sisters, Anita Sanchez and Thelma Carbajal; her son Galen and wife Ranita Gomez of Sarasota, Florida, their children Mitchell Gomez of Idledale, Colorado, and A.J. Gomez and her two children Sydney and Jorel of Bradenton, Florida; son Gerry Gomez of Santa Barbara, California and daughter Patricia Gomez of Greeley, Colorado.
A Mass will be held in her honor at St Peter's Catholic Church, located at 915 12th St, Greeley, CO 80631. The service is scheduled for November 21, 2025, beginning at 9:30 am.
Following the Mass, a burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236. The burial service is set for November 24, 2025, at 10:00 am.
