Barbara Lou Hess

Barbara L. Hess, beloved wife and mother, passed away on November 29, 2025 at the age of 91 at Mill Pond Health Center. Barbara was born on February 20, 1934 in Clinton Falls, Indiana to Ellet Ensor and Marie (Harbison) Ensor.

Barbara was a homemaker and found joy in caring for her family. She enjoyed teaching her daughters how to cook, planting her veggie and flower gardens, as well as supporting her children in their various activities. She was a proud member of The Eastern Star, Home Extension Club, and the United Methodist Women’s Club, where her family attended church for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Josef M. Hess; and their children, Mark Hess (Jan), Denise Watson, Linda Hess, and Rita Hess; 4 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; her siblings, Jerry Ensor, Carolyn Bullerdick, Nancy Butt, and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Wanda Bitzer and Larry Ensor.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hopkins- Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle, IN. There will be a graveside Service following at Brick Chapel Cemetery.
