Charles D. Johnston

Born July 19, 1956 in Greencastle, he was the son of Cecil C. “Pete” and Blanche M. (Surber) Johnston.

Charlie had worked at the Hardees and Arby’s restaurants. He had also worked for several years with Putnam County Comprehensive Services. He was a member of the Greencastle Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and the Fillmore volunteer Fire Department. Charlie was an avid race fan, attending every race that he could and he loved to ride his moped.

Charlie is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Norma) Johnston, Earl (Joyce) Johnston, and Keith (Tina) Johnston; his sister, Sarah (Tony) Elmore; sister-in-laws, Gaby Peckat and Debbie Johnston Light; special friend, Alicia Cunningham; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Johnston; and a nephew, Ricky Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 28th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to Putnam County Comprehensive Services; Putnam County Food Pantry; or to the Moose heart organization.
