He was born in Greencastle on March 22, 1941.
Charles graduated from Indiana State University, where he received a master's degree.
He was married to Carmen M. (Waldon) Williams on June 27, 1964.
Charles had a career as director of human resources for General Motors.
He was a member of the Leukemia Foundation, had a passion for golf, gardening and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; children Dannielle (Tyrone) Meriwether, Tracy Williams, Tia Williams and Christina Williams; grandchildren Taylor Meriwether and Trevor Meriwether; and siblings M. Laverne Groves and Elliott (Billye) Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, July 25 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
