Edwin Gene Coffman

Edwin Gene Coffman, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. Born Aug. 9, 1930 in Hammond, he was the son of Rollie and Hazel (Freeman) Coffman. Gene was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Gene had worked at Lonestar Cement for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Rods and Relics Car Club and was an avid motorcycle rider. Survivors include his brothers, Gary Coffman, Larry Coffman and Donnie Coffman; sisters Shirley Williams, Mae Nolan, Peg Guy and Mary Truesdale; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Kean) Coffman; parents; brothers, Jack, Jim and Bill Coffman; and sisters, Carol Love and Marcia Davis. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the funeral home.
