Evelyn Jane Strother

Evelyn Jane Strother, 81, of Greencastle, formerly of Plainfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. She was born on May 18, 1937 in Greencastle, the daughter of George and Ruth (Bennett) Arnold and was a graduate of Fillmore High School “Class of 1955”. Evelyn was a homemaker and had worked at Mallorys in Greencastle and The Bowling Alley and Marsh in Plainfield. She was a member of the Northview Christian Church, Danville and the 700 Club. She is survived by her children, Julie Herrick, Billy (wife, Carol) Strother, Brian (wife, Linda) Strother, Jamie (husband, Charles) Sage, and Rita Jo Wooldridge; three sisters, Julia (husband, Paul) VanStone, Terri (husband, Joseph) Dahlstrom, and Rita Smith; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Arnold Detro and Carol Magness; 11 Grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Strother; two sons, Bradlee A. Strother and Richard “Woody” Wooldridge; a grandson, Brian Wayne Strother; a brother, Maynard Arnold; and two sisters, Kay Reburger and an infant Elizabeth Ann. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle with Dr. Billy Strother officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
