James David Mackey

Born March 31, 1952 in Greencastle, he was the son of James Douglas and Mary Ruth (Hanneman) Mackey Shamel and was a graduate of Greencastle High School Class of “1970”

James was a United States Army Veteran having attended the Wentworth Military School and serving his country in Vietnam. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He had also worked various construction jobs.

He survived by his wife, Diana (Miller) Mackey; children, James (Rachel) Mackey, Jessica (Joseph) Brown, Nina (Jerry King) Mackey, Nathan (Kayla Withrow) Mackey; stepsons, Joshua (Karen) Miller and Jeremy Bunten; sisters, Marcia (William) Frost, Brenda (Steve) Gooch, and Rebecca (Mark) Hughes; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
