Jan Exworthy was born to Lucille and John Exworthy on July 6, 1957 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin joining her older sister Robin. At an early age, Jan exhibited artistic talent and she pursued this interest through her schooling. Jan graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a BFA. The focus of her BFA was abstract ceramic sculptures. After graduation, Jan moved to Chicago, starting out as a sales rep for an art gallery. Aware of future job growth projections, Jan decided to start selling personal computers (a new thing back in the day). This led her to working in IT and training for software, first at an accounting firm, then for banks and IBM. Always determined to improve herself, Jan earned an MBA from DePaul University.
Jan retired early and spent time travelling with her mother, regularly visiting her mom when her mom was spending winters in Florida. As her mother’s health declined when she reached her late 80s, Jan took care of her until Lucille’s death. This loss was hard on Jan as, at the time of Lucille’s death, Jan was facing the progression of Huntington’s Disease. Jan died from Huntington’s Disease on January 28, 2026.
It is to Jan’s credit that, even though she faced many challenges and losses in her life, Jan was a positive, happy and spiritual person.
