Joseph January

Joseph was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 26, 1924, the son of LeRoi “Lee” and Mary (Reeves) January, and attended Mississippi Schools.

Mr. January worked as a Caster for Bridgeport Brass. He was a member of G.T. Haywood Memorial Church.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan “Rod” (wife-Juliette) January, Reelsville; a daughter, Jaleelah Siddiqui, (husband-Ali); eight grandchildren, Tabassum Siddiqui, Dr. Tasneem, Siddiqui, Sameerah Motiwala, (husband-Adam), Danyl January, Wesley January, Joseph, David January, Kyrian Marshall, and Ashton Marshall; three great-grandchildren, Cassidy January, Ayaan Motiwala, and Jayce January; a sister Ruth Harper and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Georgia Mildred January; eight brothers, Robert, Fred, Riley, Lester, Emanuel, John, Ben, and Abe January; and four sisters, Addie Bea Tubbs, Mary Shaw, Maggie Kitchen, and Grace Clay.

A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, September 18, 2017, at New Hope Fellowship with Pastor Donnie Watson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. At Mr. Josephs request cremation will take place at a later date. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
