Judith A Rief

Born April 29, 1938 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of William C. and Edna J. (Smiley) Cash and was a graduate of Fillmore High School “Class of 1956”. She married Walter E. Rief on June 5, 1960 and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2008.

She graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959 and began her nursing career at Putnam County Hospital, retiring in 2005, after 47 years of service. Judith was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Club 16 Home Ec. Club of Fillmore.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Chandler and fiancé’ Andy Seniour of Greencastle; a son, Kevin (Kim) Rief of Greencastle; brother, James Cash of Greencastle; sister-in-law, Gladys Rief and brother-in-law Percil Rief of Brookville; a granddaughter, Brittney “Nikki” Chandler, a grandson, Blain Truax; and nephews, Tim (Sheila) Cash, Tony (Christy) Cash, and Troy (Millissa) Cash, all of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary (Stranger) Rief; three brother-in-laws, Charles, George, and Clifford Rief; five sister-in-laws, Dora Rief, Edna Holman, Hope Rief, Sue Cash and Barbera Cash.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Couch officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 7th at the funeral home.
