Loretta Lucille White

Born July 23, 1950, in Brazil, IN, to Walter and Jewell (McClure) Hunsicker. She was a 1968 graduate of Cloverdale High School.

Lucy earned her nursing degree from ISU and began her career at Putnam Co. Hospital for several years, while continuing her education, obtaining a doctoral degree in nursing from IUPUI in 2001. She began instructing at Ivy Tech helping to bring the nursing program to Greencastle in 1990. She went on to become an associate Professor at ISU earning many awards before retiring as a Nurse Practitioner at RDC in the Plainfield Correctional Facility in 2018 due to her declining health.

She married Michael L. White on October 19, 1968, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings Daniel, John, & an infant sister Viola Diann Hunsicker; nephews Nicholas & Taylor Hunsicker; and in-laws Hank & Gertrude White.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Kelly (Max) Cassida; grandsons Kevin Cassida, Keith (Stormy) Cassida, and Kraig (Beka) Cassida; great grandsons Vincent & Lucas Cassida; siblings Maria (John) Arnold, Cathy (Hank) Liszewski, Karen Hunsicker, Virgil Hunsicker, Mike (Retha) Hunsicker; several nieces & nephews; and in-laws Linda (Johnny) Hester, and Steve White.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Mannan Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lucy in lieu of flowers to your local humane society.
