Marla Sue Schoolcraft

She was born on January 13th, 1946, to Chester and Sadie (Cora Sparks) in Martinsville, Indiana.

She worked as a custodian and caregiver over the years.

Marla married Mitchell D. Schoolcraft on October 16th, 1962, and he survives.

She loved making people smile, loved telling jokes and feeding people. She was an excellent cook. She did not know a stranger and nobody ever left her home hungry. She was loved by so many. Her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her spouse, Mitchell D. Schoolcraft, her 3 children, Alice Pettyjohn (Douglas), Michela App, Mark Schoolcraft (Sandy), 3 grandchildren, Sabrina Schoolcraft, Elizabeth Loster (Mitchell) and Kyle Pettyjohn, 4 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Chloe Jo, Levi and Elijah, siblings, Betsy Hamilton and Gary Poe, and many nieces and nephews.

Marla is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Bob Poe, Jodi Lehr (Poe), Bill Poe, Donald Poe, Connie Poe all of the Morgan County, Indiana area.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 16th, 2026, from 4:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 Percy L Julian Drive, Greencastle, IN 46135. Funeral services for Marla will be Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at 11:00a.m. with interment at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.
