Mary Irene Whitaker Saylor

She was born on January 5, 1917 in Putnam County, Indiana to George Whitaker and Cora Woodall Whitaker.

Mrs. Saylor was a member of New Life Baptist Church and had been active in the Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Saylor; son, Ralph Edward “Ed” Saylor; two sisters, Faye Bailey and Marie O’Hair; a brother, Marvin Whitaker; three half sisters, Glaydith, Carolyn and Mary June; and two half brothers, Leslie and David.

Surviving are her daughter, Evelyn Pitts and husband Dale; daughter-in-law, Angie Johnson and husband Bob; half sister, Shirley Boler; three grandchildren, Lori Patrick and husband Jim, Tracy Pitts and wife Lisa and Rhea Ann Saylor; four great grandchildren, Angela Nicole Phillips, Danielle Paige Arnold, Jordan Ezra Arnold and Justin Nicklaus Pitts; great-great granddaughter, Lillian Paige Phillips.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 4 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
